Street Art and Documentary

Blu

Blu, is a wonderful street artist who hails from Bolonga, Italy. I discovered him when I came across this fantastic image featured on Reddit. Blu is currently traveling the globe as his work and creative process are being documented for a film called Megunica. Blu and the videomakers are traveling through Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Argentina.

The team is releasing production videos and blogging about the experience at Megunica.org. I’d expect that the film will be finished in a year or so, but for now I’m riveted by their production antics. It makes me happy to see more videomakers being transparent about their creative process. It’s a great way to build an early audience, test out concepts and greatly improve the quality of the content.

The skinny graffiti above is an impressive piece Blu has created while shooting the documentary. It’s a large-scale depiction of evolution best seen in it’s full resolution. Better examples of the quality are below.

Go to Blu’s official site to see more of his work and be sure to check out Megunica for more info on the film.
