Candid Interview with Michel Gondry

May 11, 2007

Pixelsurgeon has a great candid interview with Michel Gondry. They cover Gondry’s inspirations for Science of Sleep , his animation style and his thoughts on “making it” as an artist.

Apparently for the Science of Sleep, Gondry shot dream sequences years before he shot the film. It’s obvious that he functions on a different plain than the rest of us.

Gondry on Artists:

I think many artists spend a lot of time developing their skills to compensate for their inability to reach out. You want to make an object that is an intermediary between you and someone else, instead of directly talking to them. You want people to take notice of you, and ultimately, you want to find a girlfriend.

Gotta love the honesty. Check out that interview at Pixelsurgeon.
