Don’t Forget Your Audience

A Dog’s Breakfast

If you’re thinking about starting the script for your new movie this weekend, take a look at David Hewlett’s recent rant about the business of independent film. David Hewlett is the director of A Dog’s Breakfast, which we covered about a month ago when it scored a big distribution deal. His rant was inspired while at a film festival where he realized that most of the other filmmakers hadn’t thought seriously about their audiences. Hewlett goes into great detail about his own thought process and why making a movie is like running a company, it’s a great read for any self-employed artist.
